If you don't have a good sense of balance you will struggle to improve your golf significantly.
An essential part of posture or stance for a golfer is to ensure you are able to attain a good level of natural balance. This will play an important role in determining whether you will be able to achieve the necessary control, power and accuracy of your golfing shots regardless of whether you are driving 300 yards, pitching 100 yards to the green or holing a three foot putt. You must have great balance.
The usual cause of bad balance is over swinging or incorrect transfer of weight. Try and resist the temptation to over-hit the ball or swing for the fences. Allow your rhythm, timing and balance do the hard work. A good exercise is to stand on one leg with your eyes closed until you become unbalanced and then swap legs and repeat the process. This may mean having to work on what feels all wrong for a while until you are able to start feeling more natural with it and to start to feel and see the resulting consistency of good accurate shots that are a result of a good grip. Far too many good golfers are handicapped by having an incorrect grip.
Set Up and Posture Are Important Basic Elements In Improving Your Golf Game
Not only is it important to understand and conquer the finer details of balance and grip, you must also start to think about how to implement your set up and posture routine as a vital part of the basic elements of golf. Without a good set up routine and a good posture you will find that you are compromising your progress towards acceptable improvement in your game. All good golfers, including the pros, will have a set up routine that they implement before every shot to ensure consistency. This is where mental part of your game comes into play and is a matter of self discipline and not being in too much of a hurry to make each shot. Good posture will also allow you to relax in the shot, help to stay injury free and ensure you impart the most power and precision that you can to each and every shot.
It is important to nail the basics before moving on to more advanced elements of your game, for without understanding and implementing these basic elements you will miss the foundation upon which every great golfer has built. Use these golf tips to act as a guideline and a spur to you on to greater achievement in the game of golf.
